One of the underrated annual Summertime Chi events returns tomorrow July 11th with the Millennium Park Summer Film Series. The free movie event will run through the end of August with a new movie every Tuesday evening. Movies begin at 6:30 and the gates to Jay Pritzker Pavilion open at 5pm for folks to come early and claim their spot. Don’t worry if you’re not up close, the cozy Great Lawn is the perfect place to watch as the whole thing is being shown on a state of the art 40-foot LED screen.

Admission to the showing is free so get the family together or get it in rotation for your next date night! Here is the full lineup of movies being shown this summer!

July 11th – Fast Five

The 5th entry into the ‘Fast & Furious’ saga is also probably the franchise’s best and most successful entry. Leave it to DCASE (Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events) to schedule a racing movie a week and a half after the NASCAR Street Race event.

July 18th – Turning Red

Turning Red is a new Pixar gem. It’s the perfect family movie and blends together quick-wit comedy, family drama, and incredible animation. Bring the whole crew to this one!

August 1st – Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)

Few things are better than never before seen footage. It has a way of reopening our eyes and forces us to examine history through different perspectives. Summer of Soul delivers on just that.
