For the past 9 years, the Broward Sheriff’s Office Youth Intervention and Enforcement Division has partnered with the business community to bring smiles to the faces of Broward County children during the holidays, and this year the tradition continued.
Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti joined 50 children at the annual “Shop with the Sheriff” event at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Walmart in Lauderdale Lakes.
The students were each given an opportunity to pick out up to $100 worth of gifts for themselves – or for family and friends – thanks to the generous donation from Walmart and money raised from an annual BSO holiday raffle. The young shoppers were selected by their School Resource Deputy (SRD) and some were recommended by the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
