Part of A1A is shut down for this beach blowout. The City of Fort Lauderdale puts on an amazing night lights show with fireworks bursting in the area while overlooking the moonlit shores. It’s a treat for all involved but if you plan on attending, you should find a parking space quickly or take public transportation. This annual event is always packed and parking can be a problem. The 4th of July festivities start early in Hollywood, FL so you can go early or arrive late. Beginning at 1 p.m., you can take your child out to the beachfront Charnow Park for a few hours of activities and water games. Then at 9 p.m., you can head over to Hollywood Beach for the main event, the fireworks. You can arrive early because the beach will be buzzing or you can pick another less-crowded beach spot to view the fireworks which are available all over the beach. If you live in the Hollywood Beach area or are staying in a beach hotel, you can even have a private party and watch the fireworks from your balcony.

The City of Marathon knows how to do it big so it kicks off its 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks Show long before night falls with a 10 a.m. parade at Marathon High School near Sombrero Beach. After the opening ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. with the presentation of the colors, townsmen and women party the rest of the day away at Sombrero Beach Park where patriotic patrons can enjoy live music from local bands and American staples like hot dogs and hamburgers. At 9 p.m., guests can either venture to Sombrero Beach to listen to the annual Sky Concert or they can anchor their boats just off shore to get the best seats in the house for the fireworks show. Keep in mind, those that want the full 4th of July beach experience will be driving a little over two hours to Marathon, but the trip is worth it. The event will take place the following day in case of inclement weather.

Come outside just before sunset to the Sunset Cove Amphitheater for this totally free 4th of July event. You and your loved ones will be entertained by the live sounds of the Shindigs who will be playing best in 50′s, 60′s and 70′s music and feature enough wardrobe changes to make a Golden Globes host green with envy. It’s followed by an outdoor fireworks display by Zambelli Fireworks. Guest are not encouraged to bring picnic baskets or personal BBQs as there will be food trucks onsite. Pets and lawn chairs are also not permitted.

The Homestead Miami Speedway is no stranger to fireworks. It has them after every race at 9 p.m. In fact, the Championship Cup Series on June 22-23 will feature fireworks at the race’s end but that’s just a warm up. For the real fireworks fanatic, the ultimate event is the 4th of July Concert and Fireworks Show. The fireworks start at 9 p.m. after a day of live music and activities. The event is free for all and there will be concession on hand but it might be a better deal to opt for the VIP package. It’s only $20 and children are welcome. The deal includes VIP seating in an air-conditioned Skybox and food for each purchased ticket. There’s no better way to let the sports fan see a spectacular fireworks display on a budget.
