The Museum of Art l Fort Lauderdale with William Riddle Productions presents International Cabaret Sensation Dorothy Bishop. Join us for the concert, champagne reception, and “Conversation with the Artist.”
International singing sensation Dorothy Bishop is from New York City where she has performed professionally as an operatic soprano, cabaret chanteuse, and Broadway baby.
Dorothy trained as an opera singer at The Yale School of Music and upon her arrival in New York, she made her Carnegie Hall debut with Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops, singing La Boheme as a special tribute to Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. She has since sung many of the leading diva opera roles including Tosca, Violetta, Lucia, Madam Butterfly and Rosalinde.
Early in her career, Dorothy toured with Faye Dunaway in the First Broadway National Tour of Master Class by Terrance McNally and since has headlined at most of the major theaters and clubs all over the world. Her many appearances in New York City include Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, Town Hall, The Hammerstein Ballroom, Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater, The Roseland Ballroom, Symphony Space, The Grammercy Theater, The Lizard Lounge, and The legendary BON SOIR CLUB.
Dorothy Bishop was honored to headline at the re-opening of The Bon Soir last summer with her own cabaret act. “The Bon Soir was the original club in the West Village, where such legends are Barbra Streisand, Joan Rivers, and Kaye Ballard got their start during the 1960’s. Tonight, she brings her Bon Soir show from New York City to Ft. Lauderdale.” -Willie Riddle
