FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The RedEye opening reception event at ArtServe was an exciting multi-media explosion of live art, live musical entertainment, indie films, comic art, food trucks and a graffiti challenge if you missed the opening don’t worry the exhibit is open now thru August 15th.
The RedEye exhibit is now on display through August 15 at ArtServe, located at 1350 E. Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. Now celebrating its eighth consecutive year, RedEye features some of the biggest names in urban and extreme art including Torche Perkins, a metal sculptor and designer who is appearing on HGTV’s Brother VS. Brother; internationally acclaimed urban realist artist Miguel Paredes; mural and graffiti artist Abstrk; Body and Soul Dance Company and installation and 3D artist Donna Haynes.
“RedEye is not your average art exhibit,” says Jaye Abbate, President and CEO of ArtServe. “It’s edgy and fun and the special event on July 20 brings together the community to experience a unique collaboration of art, film, music and painting.”
During the live event this past Saturday, RedEye took over the ArtServe gallery and the festivities spilled over into the parking lot. Guests enjoyed live art, film shorts and comic art inside while the outdoor area facing Sunrise Boulevard was filled with musical entertainment, food trucks and a graffiti challenge.
“What started as a small education program to channel the talents of local kids who were getting in trouble defacing public property into ways for them to earn money for their artistic efforts, has become a true celebration of the local street art scene. By going from cans to canvas, these kids have become successful in their own right as artists.”
