LAUDERDALE LIVE 2015 LINE-UP ANNOUNCED: PHILLIP PHILLIPS AND O.A.R. TO HEADLINE THE FESTIVAL

FTL - PosterThe Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau’s office of Film, Music and Entertainment, AEG Live and Donahue Entertainment are excited to announce the Lauderdale Live 2015 line-up. Lauderdale Live will take place over the weekend of June 19 – 21, 2015 at Fort Lauderdale’s beautiful waterfront Huizenga Plaza.
Friday, June 19 will feature a special VIP pre-festival, intimate event including special live performances. Details will be announced very soon.
Saturday, June 20 will be headlined by Phillip Phillips, who won the eleventh season of American Idol and has been nominated for numerous American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and Teen Choice Awards. 2012’s The World from the Side of the Moon debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 and featured the 5x platinum smash hit “Home”. 2014’s Behind The Light featured lead single “Raging Fire,” an epic and urgent love song that debuted in the Billboard Hot 100 and quickly earned raves for Phillips’s stirring vocal delivery and thrilling guitar work. Ben Rector released The Walking in Between in 2013 on his own label, Aptly Named Recordings, and the album debuted at #16 on the Billboard 200 chart. His previous two independent releases, 2010’s Into the Morning and 2011’s Something Like This, were both iTunes leaders with Something Like This reaching #1 on the digital retailer’s Singer/Songwriter Albums chart. Tracks from both albums appeared in multiple television shows, including One Tree Hill, Castle, The Neighbors and Pretty Little Liars. Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors will also perform on Saturday. The band’s latest album Medicine was released on January 27, 2015. 2005’s Washed in Blue had multiple TV placements on Lifetime’s Army Wives, Showtime’s United States of Tara and A&E’s The Cleaner. Kris Allen won the eighth season of American Idol, and his self-titled debut album featured the hit “Live Like We’re Dying” which peaked at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved platinum status with over 1.7 million in combined sales. Kris is also a philanthropist dedicated to using his position to raise awareness about a number of philanthropic causes including Music Empowers, World Vision and Global Genes. And Emily Kopp, a singer-songwriter from Florida, is ready to become a full-time road warrior with the release of her debut full length album Serendipity Find Me. Her music has been described as a marriage between “bluesy heartache vocals and pop songwriting smarts” (The Advocate).
Sunday, June 21 will be headlined by O.A.R. (short for Of A Revolution). The band has released eight studio albums since their formation in 1996 in Rockville, Maryland. “Shattered (Turn the Car Around)” from 2008’s All Sides achieved platinum status. The band went home while making their latest release, 2014’s The Rockville LP, which gave them a sense of peace and triggered a journey of creative renewal and inspiration. Sister Hazel was formed in Gainesville, FL in 1993 and impressively there have been no changes to the band’s line-up after over 20 years. 1997’s …Somewhere More Familiar reached platinum status, and the smash single “All For You” hit #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band gets up close and personal with their empire of ‘Hazelnuts’ each year for their Rock Boat excursions, the world’s largest floating music festival. Dumpstaphunk stands out among New Orleans’ best as one of the funkiest bands to ever arise from the Crescent City. Born on the Jazz & Heritage Festival stage and descended from Neville family bloodlines, these soldiers of funk ignite a deep, gritty groove that dares listeners not to move. 2013’s Dirty Word features 11 songs with special appearances by Trombone Shorty, Ani DiFranco, Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rebirth Brass Band, Art Neville and the Grooveline Horns. Luke Wade hails from Dublin, TX where he was born to extraordinary artists and self-described ‘Hippies’, an environment that encouraged and cultivated creativity. The son of a well-known artist and a dancer, Luke decided years ago that his future was going to be on stages and scenes telling his stories. He aspires to capture our journey through it – and his sophomore album, The River, speaks to a brilliant departure on that journey. And Beverly McClellan reached the final four on the premiere season of NBC’s hit TV show, The Voice. Originally from Virginia, she started singing at age 24 and had been performing at clubs and bars around Fort Lauderdale for 20 years. A soulful rock singer with honest lyrics and a raw sound, Beverly plays over 10 instruments and has already released five independent albums.

It is really a credit to the partnerships the CVB, Broward County, the OFME and the City of Fort Lauderdale have been able to forge.
